YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra Espionage Case: Six Indian nationals and YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra are arrested in charges of spying for Pakistan. Jyoti, a young YouTuber from Haryana had visited Pakistan with some local help. Security agencies have said that a ring of spies for Pakistan is active in Haryana and Punjab. This includes agents, financiers and informants. The Civil Lines police in Hisar has arrested six people in this case. YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has a channel on YouTube called ‘Travel with JO’. According to information given by security officials, Jyoti Malhotra had visited Pakistan in 2023 after obtaining a visa from a commission agent. During this visit, she came into contact with a person named Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, who works at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. The Indian government declared Danish a persona non grata and expelled him from the High Commission on May 13, 2025. According to information received, Jyoti was introduced to Pakistani intelligence officers (PIOs) through Danish and his associate Ali Ahsan, who arranged for her travel and stay in Pakistan. She developed a close relationship with a Pakistani intelligence officer and recently went with him to Bali, Indonesia.
Jyoti was in touch with Pakistani operative Shakir alias Rana Shahbaz through encrypted platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram and Snapchat. She had saved his phone number under the name Jatt Randhawa. Jyoti was tasked by Pakistani handlers to create a positive image of Pakistan through social media. During interrogation by security agencies, Jyoti said that she was part of a delegation during her visit to Pakistan in 2023.
