Her grandfather was in the Indian Army and her father also served in the army for some time. She is an officer of the Signal Corps of the Indian Army. Due to her background, she always dreamed of joining the army. Finally, in 1999, she got a commission in the army through the Officers Training Academy (OTA). She has worked in various challenging parts of the country so far. In March 2016, she crossed another milestone.
