Weather in Pune and Maharashtra : The weather in the state has been witnessing major changes since the beginning of the May. Rain showers, thunder storms and cloudy weather with hot and humid weather remained in many parts. The IMD has predicted that the situation will remain same on May 17 and the rainy weather will continue in all parts of the state including Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha, and alerts have been issued in some areas. (Weather in Pune and Maharashtra). Sudden rains in many parts of the state are causing damage to farmers’ crops. Fruit trees and vegetables are especially affected. The Meteorological Department has appealed to citizens and farmers to take necessary precautions.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for some parts of the state. Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Beed, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur and Washim. There is a possibility of rain accompanied by thunder and gale force winds in these areas. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Chandrapur, Wardha and Yavatmal. The possibility of severe thunderstorms, gale force winds and heavy rain has been predicted in these areas. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna and Hingoli districts. The sky will remain cloudy in these areas and there may be rain showers with thundershowers in the afternoon.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for some districts. This include Chandrapur, Wardha and Yavatmal. The possibility of severe thunderstorms, gale force winds and heavy rain has been predicted here.
The temperature in Mumbai is likely to be between 26 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 34 degrees Celsius (maximum). The sky will remain completely cloudy. IMD has predicted light rain with thundershowers in the afternoon. While in Pune, the minimum temperature can go down upto 23 degrees Celsius and the maximum can be as high as 35 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain partly cloudy from the morning and there is a possibility of rain showers with thundershowers in the afternoon and evening. The wind speed may also increase slightly.
The minimum temperature in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is likely to be 24 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, the maximum temperature is likely to rise upto 35 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of thundershowers and rain in the afternoon or night. The minimum temperature in Nashik is likely to be 23 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to be 35 degrees Celsius. The sky is likely to remain partly cloudy and there is a possibility of moderate rain with thundershowers in the afternoon or evening. Heat wave is likely to persist in Nagpur. The minimum temperature here is likely to be 29 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is predicted to be 41 degrees Celsius. However, there is a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds and lightning.
