Rubber in Pune University Canteen’s Food: A shocking incident has emerged from the food court of Savitribai Phule Pune University, where rubber was allegedly found in meals served at the ‘Route 93’ Chinese food stall. The issue came to light when students from the Hindi Department discovered pieces of rubber in their fried rice and noodles during a recent visit for breakfast and lunch. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at the same food stall, according to students. Despite repeated complaints and similar past incidents, the university administration and the faculty members on the food committee have reportedly failed to take effective action. Lack of Hygiene at Food Court
Students have pointed out the persistent lack of hygiene at the university food court as a major concern. Finding foreign objects like rubber in meals at a premier educational institution raises serious questions about the food safety standards and oversight mechanisms in place. Calling it a sign of administrative negligence, students expressed frustration over the lack of accountability. “This is not just about food; it’s about our health and the system’s apathy,” one student said.
Shiva Barole, a member of the university’s Food Quality Control Committee, emphasized the importance of providing both quality education and nutritious food to students. “The administration must act promptly when students’ health is at stake. Incidents like these require strict action and preventive measures,” he stated.
As the controversy grows, students are demanding immediate inspection of the food court and stricter enforcement of hygiene and safety standards to prevent such incidents in the future.
