Raigad Heavy Rain: Torrential rains in several parts of Maharashtra disrupted daily life on Monday. It triggered weather-related incidents across the state. A road near the historic Raigad Fort collapsed after a heavy water flow from a nearby waterfall. The incident occurred near bypass road in the Konzar Ghat area. The road has been closed by the police, and traffic has been halted for the safety of citizens. Authorities are warning of potential cloudburst-like rain in the fort region, which may further disrupt normal life.
Shrivardhan taluka in Raigad recorded the highest rainfall so far. Walatwadi village experienced flood-like conditions, and rainwater entered nearby homes. The region received 136 mm of rainfall. According to IMD, it was the highest in the district for the day. Residents reported cloudburst-like rainfall, leading to waterlogging and property damage.

Tress Uprooted, Landslides Causes Traffic Disruption
Continuous rain in Raigad and adjoining areas like Khopoli, Mahad, Mhasala, Alibag, and Roha has resulted in several trees being uprooted, causing major traffic disruptions. A large tree fell on the Mhasala-Khamgaon road, halting vehicle movement. A similar incident occurred on the Roha-Chanera route, adding to the traffic woes. In Veldoor village of Guhagar, a partial landslide struck a home in the Nawa Nagar area. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, but the house sustained significant structural damage. Additionally, multiple large trees have collapsed across villages like Adur and Asgoli, and the rural areas are facing complete power outages due to snapped electricity lines.
IMD Issues Week-Long Orange Alert for Heavy Rain
The IMD has issued a week-long Orange Alert for Raigad and surrounding regions, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Citizens have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel. Local administration is on high alert to handle potential emergencies caused by flooding or landslides.
