Pune Ring Road Project: The ambitious Pune Ring Road project has picked up significant pace, marking a major leap in the city’s infrastructure and urban connectivity landscape. With an estimated cost of ₹42,711 crore, this 172-kilometre six-lane expressway—along with two additional service lanes—is steadily taking shape on the ground. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is executing the project with support from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). The entire development is divided into four phases, covering both eastern and western parts of the Pune region.

Main features of the project:
The length of this ring road will be 172 km. It will have six lane highway and two service lanes. The total cost of this project is approximately ₹42,711 crores. Its proposed connecting roads will be Pune-Nashik, Mumbai-Pune-Solapur, Pune-Satara, Pune-Ahmednagar highways. This project will bring major changes in 29 villages. A total of 1,740 hectares of land has been acquired to complete this ring road, out of which 24% work is going on rapidly in Wagholi, Wadachivadi.
Under the project, structures like flyovers, bridges, viaducts will also be constructed,. It will provide better connectivity to the suburbs with the main city. The possibilities of commercial and real estate development have now increased in previously backward areas. Due to the ‘war room’ monitoring system of MSRDC, work is being done ahead of schedule in many areas. Works like soil testing, land levelling etc have been started and strict penalty policy for delay in progress has also been implemented.
