Project Details:
Tunnel:
The approximately 9-kilometer-long tunnel is currently under construction.
Cable-Stayed Bridge: This iconic structure, rising 132 meters above ground, will be the tallest bridge in any Indian road project.
Reduced Distance: The project will bypass the challenging Khandala Ghat section, resulting in a shorter travel distance between Pune and Mumbai.
Travel Time Reduction: The bypass is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities by around 25 minutes.
Cost: The estimated cost of the entire project is approximately ₹6,695 crore.

Expressway Expansion:
The existing six-lane expressway is being expanded to eight lanes. Two flyovers, including the remarkable cable-stayed bridge with a 650-meter span and an 850-meter viaduct, are being constructed as part of this expansion.

Key Benefits:
Reduced Travel Time:
Faster travel between Pune and Mumbai.
Enhanced Safety: Minimized sharp turns will contribute to improved road safety.
Improved Traffic Flow: The bypass will alleviate traffic congestion in the Ghat section.
Enhanced Connectivity: Streamlined road travel between the two major cities.

Completion Timeline:
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) aims to finalize all construction work by June 2025.

Once completed, this crucial link will significantly enhance connectivity and travel experience between Pune and Mumbai. (Pune-Mumbai Distance)
