Night Predator : Pune police have finally arrested Dattatray Gade, accused in rape case of a 26-year-old woman. The woman, aboard a Shivshahi bus at Pune’s oneof the busiest Swargate Bus Stand was lured in the name of help and was raped. Authorities successfully detained Dattatray Gade after a 45-hour manhunt. After his arrest, series of disturbing crime committed by him has come to light. (Night Predator)

During investigations, Gade committed to his crime. Police learned that Gade followed a calculated pattern for all the crime he committed. He used to move freely through villages during daytime. He used his bus passes to hunt victims at night. He would systematically find targets at various bus stations including Shivajinagar, Swargate, Ahilyanagar, and Shirur ST Stand.
During interrogation, police came to know that just a few days before the Swargate rape incident, Gade had attempted to trap another young woman. But she became suspicious and escaped his clutches.
Police got a breakthrough in the case when they recovered the suspect’s shirt. After that the police deployed canine units to track his movements. They issued public announcements throughout villages where there was possibilities of Gade’s hideout.
According to reports, Gade had reportedly approached a local resident named Mahesh Bahirat around 10:30 PM. He told him that he wants to surrender. As he can’t bear it anymore. He accepted that he made a mistake. But even after accepting his mistakes, he fleed again. He returned to hiding in a sugarcane field and was eventually caught sleeping near a water canal.
