Mumbai-Bangalore Bypass Accidents: Three people died in three accidents on Mumbai-Bangalore bypass and Vadgaon flyover area in the last 24 hours. The incident where a college student riding a bike died after being hit by a speeding car took place on Saturday morning, while the bike rider was killed in an accident that took place around 1 pm. Before that, on Friday morning, a bike rider had died in another accident.

After a speeding car accident in the morning, a speeding truck hit four vehicles including two two-wheelers, a rickshaw and a car on the bypass road on Saturday afternoon. The man on the bike, Rahul Jagannath Khatpe (age 32, Sinhagad College Road, Vadgaon Budruk) died in the accident. The car rider Dayawar Hussain Sarwar (age 45, Saibabanagar, Kondhwa Khurd) was injured in the accident. A case has been registered against the truck driver Sanjay Shrimant Birajdar (age 36, Sakkargaon, Aland, Gulbarga, Karnataka) in this regard.
According to the police, Khatpe was a security guard at Sinhagad College. The truck was speeding towards Navle Bridge from Katraj on the bypass road at around 1 pm on Saturday. The truck driver lost control. Initially, the truck hit the car, rickshaw and the bike rider Khatpe. Khatpe was seriously injured in the accident. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, a young man riding a two-wheeler died after being hit by a truck on the Vadgaon flyover at around 7 am on Friday (May 2). The deceased has been identified as Kiran Pavanoji Gawade-Patil (age 36, near Gagangiri Temple, Hingne, Karvenagar). A case has been registered against the truck driver in this case.
Six people died in accident in five months
Five major accidents have occurred on this road in the last five month. Six people have lost their lives in these accidents. The traffic police and the highway authority have taken various measures to prevent accidents. Major accidents occur when speeding vehicles lose control on the sharp turns between Daripul and Navale Bridge on the outer ring road. To prevent accidents, speed bumps, ‘rumbling strips’ for speed control, speed limits, and signs have been installed at various places. According to traffic police, major accidents occur because heavy vehicle drivers doesn’t follow the speed limit.
