Monsoon to Bounce Back After June 10: Rain Forecasted Across Half of Maharashtra

Monsoon to Bounce Back After June 10: After a brief dry spell lasting a week, monsoon rain will return across large parts of Maharashtra, says the IMD. Farmers and city residents have eagerly awaited this shift, hoping to revive fields and calm rising temperatures. (Monsoon to Bounce Back After June 10)

Starting this week, districts in Konkan such as Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg should expect light to moderate showers, with isolated heavy rain by June 10. North Maharashtra regions like Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nandurbar will see similar weather, especially around the ghat areas. In Western Maharashtra and Marathwada including Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, Beed, Latur, and Aurangabad the IMD warns of thunderstorms, gusty winds around 30–50 km/h, and moderate rainfall.

Vidarbha, which has remained mostly dry, should also get a dose of rain and wind between June 9 and 12. Mumbai, Thane, and the metro suburbs can expect increasing rain from around June 12.

The IMD issued a yellow alert for Pune and Satara, urging citizens to stay cautious during thunderstorms. Wind and lightning can create hazards, and urban areas may see some waterlogging. Authorities encourage people to avoid open spaces, unplug electrical devices during storms, and take necessary precautions.

This revival of monsoon promises relief after a hotter-than-normal stretch. June 2025 already ranks as one of the wettest Mays in over a century, yet rainfall tapered off at the start of June. Now, with half the state expecting rain, authorities and farmers can prepare for sowing and water management.

IMD forecasts generally expect rainfall to return in full swing after June 10, bringing more consistent showers across the state through mid-June. As Maharashtra braces for renewed monsoon activity, residents are advised to stay alert, plan travels accordingly, and protect crops and property.
