Possible Increase in Namo Kisan Samman Yojana funding –
Notably, the BJP had stressed over increasing the funding for Namo Kisan Samman Yojana during election campaigns. Also, CM Devendra Fadnavis had recently announced plans to raise the amount from ₹6,000 to ₹9,000. Let us tell you, currently farmers receive a total of ₹12,000 annually; ₹6,000 from the PM Kisan Yojana and ₹6,000 from the Namo Kisan Samman Yojana.

This payout is expected to raise to ₹15,000. This would allow farmers to receive ₹3,000 per installment. The government transfers this amount directly to farmers’ accounts in three installments annually. Farmers expect the Chief Minister and government to fulfill their promise.

High Expectations for Loan Waiver Announcement –
The most critical issue for farmers is loan waiver implementation. Before elections, the government had promised to make farmers debt-free. So far, there has been no concrete decision made, but farmers have high expectations in this budget.

Improved Price Differential Scheme –
Cotton and soybean farmers are demanding an effective price differential scheme. Soybean farmers received only ₹1,000 per quintal this year despite the government’s promise to provide minimum support prices, which was less than the MSP. This caused a huge financial burden on farmers as they were unable to recover even their production costs

Call for Increased Agricultural Subsidies –
There have been demands for increased subsidies for drip irrigation, farm ponds, wells, and agricultural equipment. Government spending on these schemes has decreased significantly in recent years. According to the government’s economic survey report, agricultural subsidies have been reduced. Farmers expect the government to prioritize agriculture and make substantial budget allocations this year.
