On top of that, collecting reports and patient files from different hospitals takes time. Many hospitals delay sending the required documents, adding weeks or even months to the process. Some cases date as far back as 2020, and each year adds more to the pile. In 2024 alone, over 35 new complaints came in, while the hospital continues to struggle with older ones.
One recent complaint gained attention when a woman lost her life after being denied treatment at a private hospital because she couldn’t pay the admission deposit. The case triggered legal action against the attending doctor after a Sassoon committee investigated it.
To ease the pressure, officials have started transferring some cases back to hospitals in other districts. However, public trust is wearing thin. Patient rights groups are now demanding quicker action, better staffing, and stronger accountability.
