Matheran’s Train ‘Queen’ Suspended Till October 15: Matheran’s beloved toy train, known for its scenic charm and nostalgic value, will remain off-track from June 1 to October 15. Authorities made this decision after landslides were reported between Aman Lodge and Water Pipe stations, raising safety concerns during the monsoon. Despite the suspension of the full route, the short-distance shuttle between Aman Lodge and Matheran will continue to run daily. This service ensures that tourists and locals still have access to the hill station, especially during the peak rainy season when road access can be unpredictable.

A mini goods train will also run on weekdays from Neral to Matheran, helping transport essentials. On Saturdays, a special empty train will head from Neral, convert into a shuttle at Matheran, and return with coaches in the afternoon.
Railway teams will inspect the tracks on October 15. Only after confirming all safety parameters, the iconic full-route service will return. Until then, tourists heading to Matheran can take a cab from Neral to Dasturi Naka, followed by a walk, horse ride, or the shuttle to reach the destination.
While this break may disappoint some, it ensures passenger safety amid unpredictable monsoon conditions. Matheran remains open and accessible just through a slightly different route.
