Maharashtra Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several regions in Maharashtra as monsoon activity intensifies. From June 26 to June 30, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts in the Konkan region are expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Citizens have been advised to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary. In contrast, Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai will see light to moderate rainfall over the next few days.

Pune, Kolhapur on 5-Hour High Alert
The ghat regions of Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara are likely to receive extremely heavy rains today. The IMD has issued a 5-hour alert, urging travelers and locals to remain vigilant. However, urban Pune city and areas like Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, Jalgaon, and Ahilyanagar are expected to receive only light showers over the next four days.
Monsoon Still Weak in Marathwada
Despite the onset of monsoon, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv districts will experience minimal rainfall. A few areas may receive light showers, but overall, the rainfall remains weak. This has escalated water concerns in the region.
Vidarbha to Face Stormy Weather Until June 29
The IMD has issued a high alert for Vidarbha districts including Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal. Between June 26 and June 29, these areas are likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds at 30-40 km/h, and moderate to heavy rainfall.
Farmers have been especially urged to safeguard their crops as stormy conditions are expected to last for four days. Citizens in these districts have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement.
Additionally, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Nagpur will also be impacted by heavy rainfall and strong winds in the coming days.
