Currently rolled out in select areas of Bengaluru, the service has already gained attention for its aggressive pricing strategy. Unlike Zomato and Swiggy, which often factor high delivery fees and platform charges, Rapido’s model aims to keep costs significantly lower for customers making food delivery more affordable for daily use.

Rapido is leveraging its vast fleet of two-wheeler drivers to make this service efficient and fast. According to early users, the app shows simple UI, fast updates, and lesser delays. What makes the offer more tempting is that the menu prices are not inflated, and delivery charges are either minimal or completely waived in many cases.
This strategic expansion could disrupt the duopoly of Zomato and Swiggy in India’s online food market, especially in tier-2 cities where affordability is key. While Zomato recently acquired Blinkit and Swiggy continues to expand Instamart, Rapido’s entry into food delivery is seen as a direct attempt to undercut pricing and cater to budget-conscious users.
If the pilot succeeds, Rapido may expand the service to other metros like Pune, Hyderabad, and Delhi, intensifying competition and forcing other players to rethink their pricing strategies.
With food inflation on the rise, consumers are likely to welcome an option that delivers favorite meals without burning a hole in their pocket.
