Pune Municipal Corporation and district administration have communicated this drone prohibition to local event planners, priest-led groups, and press agencies.

They have urged media outlets to rely on authorized photographers and videographers stationed on land or mobile platforms to cover the procession. This ensures comprehensive coverage while maintaining the dignity of the event.

Over 150,000 devotees are expected to participate in the multi-day celebration, moving through routes that pass central wards, religious landmarks, and residential areas.

Organizers estimate that between 80 and 100 palkhis (palanquins) will travel during the four-day period, drawing participants from across Maharashtra and beyond. Pune Police has asked these groups to carry banners and flags to signal procession members clearly to security personnel.

Authorities have also set up multiple security checkpoints around key intersections to check vehicles and handheld devices, emphasizing public safety first. Police and local volunteers will guide devotees, provide medical aid, and keep emergency access clear. These measures ensure the procession runs smoothly without relying on aerial technology.

By banning drones, officials aim to reduce aerial clutter, protect crowd safety, and prevent video interference. They hope this ground-focused security model will set a standard for managing large religious processions nationwide balancing tradition with modern safety needs.
