Cyber Attack Launched by Pakistan: India destroyed Pakistan’s terrorist bases under ‘Operation Sindoor’. Terrorist groups suffered heavy losses in this. Pakistan, enraged by this, launched a series of drone and missile attacks on Indian borders; however, these attacks were unsuccessful due to India’s state-of-the-art air defense system. After failures on the battlefield, Pakistan has now started cyber attacks. Pimpri-Chinchwad Police has appealed to the citizens not to click on unknown links or files received on their mobile phones. The purpose of this cyber attack is not just to steal information, but to obtain and misuse the personal information of the common citizens of the country. This virus can steal bank account details, passwords and credit card information. All files, photos and documents present on mobile phones and computers can be used for malicious purposes. Once the mobile phone is infected, spying can also be done using the camera or mic.
Due to the increasing fears of cyber attacks, Maharashtra Police has also increased vigilance at the local level. Cyber cells have been activated in Pimpri-Chinchwad and other places. Special awareness campaigns are being run for the citizens. Public interest messages, precautions to be taken while making banking transactions and tips to identify suspicious apps are being published regularly on social media. Cyber security guidance sessions are also being organized in schools, colleges and hostels. The focus of the police is on disseminating information to the general public.
It is being said that Pakistan has now waged a cyber war. A dangerous malware is being spread through various platforms of social media, especially WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and email. The name of this malware is “Dance of the Hillary”, and it is called “tasksche.exe”, “Dance of Hillary.exe”, “OperationSindoor.ppt”, “Operation Sindhu.pptx”. These files look normal on seeing. However, on clicking, a malicious software gets installed on the device. Once the device is infected, the user’s phone or computer comes completely under the control of hackers.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and the Cyber Department of the Home Ministry have taken the matter seriously. Although Pakistan has not been directly mentioned officially yet, but given the method and timing of the attack, there is a strong possibility that a government-backed cyber group in Pakistan is behind it.
