To ensure that there is no shortage at the party on New Year’s Eve, there have been a lot of orders for chips, coke, and snacks. This information has been shared by Albinder Dhindsa, co-founder of Blinkit himself. He said that on this day, 2.3 lakh packets of samosa were delivered. On the other hand, 6834 packets of ice cubes were delivered to people’s homes by delivery executives. These figures are up to 8 pm on the night of December 31.
Albinder also said that they received many orders for condoms on their app on that day. Of these, 39% of the sales were only for chocolate flavored condoms. While 31% were strawberry flavored and 19% were bubblegum flavored condoms.
On the last day of the year, people also had a lot of demand for grapes. Albinder was surprised and said, “It was the highest demanding product since morning.” He said, “Why do people suddenly need so many grapes on the last day?” Some users on social media explained the reason for the high demand for grapes, saying that there is a centuries-old tradition of eating 12 grapes on New Year’s Eve and making a wish.
Swiggy Instamart has also released data related to this day. According to them, at 7:30 pm on New Year’s Eve, 853 orders for chips were coming every minute. People also ordered a lot of blindfolds and handcuffs on this day. The co-founder of Swiggy Instamart said, “At 7.41 pm, 119 kg of ice cubes were ordered in one minute. According to Big Basket, the sale of non-alcoholic drinks on their platform increased by 552%. While the sale of disposable cups and plates increased by 325%. The sale of mocktails and soda also increased by 200%.
