Pune Passport Office Server Crash: Mundhwa Passport Office server went down in Pune on Thursday (June 19), leaving hundreds of citizens waiting for hours without any progress in their applications. Despite having appointments, applicants were left stranded due to a complete system shutdown. Citizens who had scheduled appointments at 11 AM arrived on time, but soon after, the server went down. Queues grew longer as the time passed, with nearly 200-300 people standing outside the gate and another 200 stuck inside the office premises. The crowd included senior citizens, children, and women, all of whom had to endure long hours of discomfort. (Pune Passport Office Server Crash)

A citizen shared his experience that 80 new applicants were being registered every 15-20 minutes. However, there was no coordination, information or announcement from the authorities. Citizens expressed anger at the fact that only one passport office serves entire Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and nearby districts. They questioned how such a vital public facility could function without a reliable backup for server failures.
A female applicant said, “Authorities already have our contact details. They could have at least sent an SMS or email informing about the technical failure. It would have saved us time and stress.”
The lack of prior notification and the failure to manage the growing crowd has raised questions about the effectiveness of Passport Office’s public service administration.
