Local leaders emphasized the line’s potential to transform connectivity and spur economic growth in the region. “This railway opens new gateways for students, farmers, and small businesses,” said a district official. “Travel time between key towns has halved, and trade routes now benefit from rail transport.”
Communities along the route have welcomed the railway, noting that alternatives previously involved long and costly road travel. With trains now approaching, people expect better access to healthcare, education, and employment hubs.
Project engineers explained that crews laid high-quality tracks across challenging terrain, including several river crossings. They erected sturdy bridges, rainwater drainage systems, and signaling infrastructure. Officials also installed modern automatic signaling and level crossing gates to reinforce safety.
Railway authorities announced they will begin passenger services in phases, starting within the month. Initially, four daily trains will operate two in each direction connecting local stops with express trains at Kishanganj station. Over time, officials plan to increase frequency and introduce freight services to boost local commerce.
Citizens praised the line’s eco-friendly impact, noting that rail travel reduces carbon emissions compared to road transport. Farmers pointed to upcoming opportunities for cheaper grain and produce transport to Aldi mandi and markets across the state.
The railway department also conducted safety drills and staff training ahead of the launch. They coordinated with local administrations to set up ticketing booths, GPS-based passenger information systems, and alert systems at stations.
As the new line readies for regular passenger operations, hopes are high for a connectivity boom across northeastern Bihar—signalling progress, prosperity, and transformation for local communities.
