The revered Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi 2025 will halt at Bopodi for 25 minutes during its entry intoPunecity this year. The decision has been taken by the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan, fulfilling a long-standing request by devotees from areas like Khadki, Aundh, Baner, Range Hills, and Bopodi. In previous years, the palkhi would stop at Bopodi only for some time, often leaving local devotees disappointed due to the limited time for darshan. Recognizing this, former Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar appealed to the Sansthan’s President, Jalindar Maharaj More, who then approved the extension of the halt to 25 minutes.
Bopodi is a prominent suburban area in Pune where large crowds gather annually to welcome the palkhi. With the extended halt this year, a greater number of devotees will now be able to witness the spiritual procession peacefully.
The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Yatra is a cherished tradition in Maharashtra’s spiritual calendar, with lakhs of Warkaris walking towards Pandharpur. The halt in Pune holds deep emotional and devotional value, and the increased time at Bopodi ensures a more inclusive experience for the faithful. After Bopodi, the palkhi will resume its journey to Pandharpur as part of the annual Ashadhi Ekadashi pilgrimage.
