Kothrud-Bangalore Highway Road Link Gets Final Approval: Residents of Kothrud and nearby areas can finally expect relief from daily traffic snarls. A long-delayed road project connecting Eklavya College in Kothrud to the Pune-Bangalore Highway has cleared its final hurdle. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) acquired the last patch of land needed to begin work on the 15-meter-wide access road.
The new road will pass through key areas like Ashish Garden, Guruganeshnagar, Surajnagar, Kumbre Park, and connect directly to the highway near Eklavya College. The route was included in the city’s Development Plan years ago, but land issues had stalled progress.

With this approval, PMC can now begin asphalting the road, which is expected to provide an alternate and faster route for commuters traveling from Paud Road and Mahatma Society toward the highway. Currently, these roads remain choked with traffic during peak hours, and this new link aims to ease that burden.
Locals have long demanded better connectivity, and this road is likely to reduce congestion, save commute time, and improve safety. The road also offers better access for emergency vehicles and public transport.
The decision marks a step forward in the city’s broader efforts to improve road infrastructure and tackle rising urban congestion. Regular commuters and residents are hopeful this long-overdue project will bring lasting change.
