Vaishnavi Dowry Death: Ex-Minister’s Son: In a significant breakthrough in the Vaishnavi Hagawane dowry death case, Bavdhan police arrested five individuals for allegedly helping the prime accused Rajendra and Sushil Hagawane while they were on the run. The accused provided shelter and logistical support across various locations, including Pune, Satara, and the Maharashtra-Karnataka border. Police said the Hagawanes stayed at a resort from May 19 to 21, booked in Pritam’s name. He also arranged food deliveries, confirmed by the resort owner. Other locations included Alandi, Vadgaon Maval, and a farmhouse in Pusegaon owned by Amol Jadhav. The other arrested individuals and their Ages are Mohan alias Bandu Uttam Bhegade (60), Bandu Laxman Phatak (55), Amol Vijay Jadhav (35), and Rahul Dasharath Jadhav (45). They played various roles, from offering safe houses to aiding in transport and concealment. Senior Inspector Anil Vibhute said the accused moved late at night to avoid detection. The Hagawanes returned to Pune on May 22 and were arrested soon after.

In court, police revealed that Vaishnavi’s body showed 29 injury marks, with at least 5–6 inflicted before death, indicating prolonged abuse. Police custody of Shashank Hagawane (husband), Lata (mother-in-law), and Karishma (sister-in-law) has been extended to May 28. Investigators have frozen the family’s bank accounts and are probing suspicious transactions, including mortgaging Vaishnavi’s gold. Officials are also looking into connections with absconding suspect Nilesh Chavan.
