Summer semester exams are currently underway at Savitribai Phule Pune University. Students are studying day and night. But only due to the bedbug infestation in university hostel, students are unable to focus and lacking proper sleep amid exam schedule. This has forced many students to leave hostel campus. The students have filed verbal and written complaints with the university administration. But the administration is not taking it seriously. Due to this, students are suffering academic losses due to sleep deprivation during the exam season. A few days ago, a student was bitten by a rat in the university hostel.
A student troubled with the situation said, “Living in the Pune University hostel is a kind of imprisonment. What is more serious is the carelessness of the university administration. If immediate measures are not taken keeping in mind the interests of the students, the university administration will have to face the students’ anger”
