NZ Captain praised team India in post-match interview. He said, “We’ve been beaten by an excellent team today. We lost wickets after the powerplay, and that’s where the match slipped from our grasp. Indian spinners gave tough fight and slowed down the game. They proved once again that they have four world-class bowlers.”
NZ Captain specifically credited Indian captain Rohit Sharma for this win. He said, “India’s strong start proved to be a winning factor in the match. Team India’s beginning was excellent. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put us on the back foot during the powerplay. Rohit’s innings was game-changer. We failed to take early wickets. Rohit took the game away from us quickly.”
Despite the losing the match, NZ captain expressed pride in his team’s performance. He said, “The Champions Trophy was an excellent competition. We faced several challenges, but we evolved as a team and played good cricket. Today, we had to accept defeat against a very strong side.”
