The tax collection department began a stringent property seizure campaign in December 2024, sealing and seizing 877 properties, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. By February 10, 321 of the 759 seized properties had been returned to their owners after they cleared the outstanding dues.

A list of 438 property owners with outstanding taxes was published in the newspaper, offering them an opportunity to pay the dues by February 25, 2025. While 36 property owners made partial payments, the process for auctioning the remaining properties has started. The final deadline for payment is now March 5. Properties whose owners fail to pay will incur an additional 15% auction fee on the outstanding tax. Thus, property owners are urged to pay their dues, or their properties will be auctioned.

Once the auction process begins, property owners will have a very limited opportunity to save their properties. Owners who have not yet paid their dues are advised to clear them before March 5 to avoid the auction. – Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner
