PMC News : PMC to Repair 17 Major Roads, 15 Arterial Roads Almost Complete

PMC News : To address severe traffic congestion, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) announced plans to repair 17 major roads in the city. This follows the successful completion of road improvement work on 15 crucial arterial roads.

A joint effort by the traffic police and civic administration identified 33 key roads for urgent repair, aiming to improve traffic flow. The Mumbai-Bengaluru Bypass, managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), was excluded from the PMC’s repair initiative.

A recent survey highlighted Pune’s significant traffic congestion, ranking it among the worst globally. This is attributed to 85% of the city’s traffic concentrated on a 260 km stretch within its 2,044 km road network.

Aniruddha Pawaskar, Chief of the PMC road department, confirmed that 90% of the improvement work on the 15 priority roads is complete, promising smoother commuting on these routes. These 15 roads, totaling 92 km, include key thoroughfares such as Nagar Road, Solapur Road, Magarpatta Road, and Pashan Road, among others. (PMC News)
