Over 60 Citizens Bitten, Panic Grips Residents

Alandi : Rabid Dog Attack in Alandi : A rabid dog attacked over 60 citizens in just two days in Alandi area of Pune. The incident, which occurred near the Bhagirathi Nullah area, has left the community demanding immediate action from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to address the growing stray dog menace.

The first wave of attacks occurred on Sunday, December 15th, when 20 people were bitten. By Monday afternoon, December 16th, the number had risen to 44, with two more cases reported later in the day. The PCMC veterinary department finally captured the rabid dog in an iron cage and initiated necessary treatment.

The incident sparked widespread anger among residents, with BJP’s Alandi area organizing secretary, Bhagwat Katkar, leading the charge in demanding action. Katkar urged the municipal chief officer, Kailas Kendre, to implement immediate vaccination drives and take preventive measures to curb the growing stray dog population.
